Field DirectorWilfried Koch (ESG UQAM)

Research in this field is aimed at understanding the effect of public policies; of free-trade policies and regional integration; of institutions; and of private choices on financial-market operations, risk-taking, work, the welfare of populations, the fight against poverty as well as on productivity and economic strength. More particularly, it studies-for developed as well as developing countries-such things as: interactions between economic policies and growth; short- and long-term distributive consequences of public policies; equity in public spending on education and health; and the role of education, institutions, and child labour in economic growth and quality of life in developing countries.
