Global analysis of economic policies and employment

Field Director: Hafedh Bouakez (HEC Montréal)

In this field, research studies the global impact of economic policies on socio-economic risks and on trends in employment, consumption, and investment.

To be more specific, it analyzes the consequences of fiscal and monetary policies, the role of labour-market institutions, and the impact of international exchanges of goods and services, capital, and financial services on unemployment, job offer and demand, aggregate salaries as well as on temporal and sectorial trends in the creation and loss of jobs and the mobility of both workers and human capital. The analyses also look at the effect of policies on consumption and investment.

Finally, the effectiveness of the policies studied and the role of economic forecasts are also studied.
